Repousse is a process of bending metal sheet or foil (we use foil as it is easier to learn at first) to create a design.  Students create designs they will rivet or embed in their sketchbooks for the year.  The octopus example is from an advanced Art 1 student.  The planet/moon with orbs is from a beginning jewelry student.  I was pleased with how far they pulled out.  Students begin with practice sheets like you see at the bottom... seeing how far they can push the metal and using the different tools.  Copper foil is getting more expensive now, but for tools you can use Teflon tools, chop sticks, and wooden clay modeling tools.  I have a few texture rollers as well.  Repousse done on silver or other metal vessels is more often chased with metal tools and a hammer.  Students can keep the copper color, or torch the copper to create colors in the metal.
